School Counselor of the Year Recipients Announced


Omaha, NE - The Nebraska School Counselor Association announced the 2022 Nebraska Elementary, Middle and High School Counselors of the Year at the 2022 NSCA Annual School Counselor Academy.   Ms. Hahn, school counselor at Jefferson Elementary School in the North Platte Public School District, was named the 2022 Nebraska Elementary School Counselor of the Year.  Ms. Julie Williams was named the 2022 Nebraska Middle School Counselor of the Year.  Ms. Williams is a school counselor with the Millard Public Schools at Central Middle School.    Ms. Julie McNamara of Daniel J Gross Catholic High School was named the 2022 Nebraska High School Counselor of the Year.  All three recipients received a $200 stipend in addition to a plaque.  One of the three honorees will be named the 2023 Nebraska School Counselor of the Year at a formal dinner and celebration in February.   Megan West of Holy Name Elementary (Omaha) was a finalist for the Elementary School Counselor of the Year while Stef Lorenzen of Millard’s Russell Middle School was a finalist for the Middle School Counselor of the Year.  Ashley De Los Santos was a finalist for the High School Counselor of the Year.   Ms. De Los Santos is a school counselor at Gering High School.

Dr. Rony Ortega is NSCA Administrator of the Year

Dr. Rony Ortega, Principal of Bryan High School, has been named the Nebraska School Counselor Association Administrator of the Year.   Dr. Ortega was nominated by Bryan High School Counselor, Jeanne Simmons, for his unwavering support of their school counseling program and their efforts to implement a program that is closely aligned with the ASCA National Model.   Bryan High School is in the Omaha Public School District.  PIctured from left to right is Doug Hauserman, NSCA Executive Director, and Dr. Rony Ortega, 2022 NSCA Administrator of the Year.
